Pexels Setup

Connect your Pexels API key and enable optional Contextual Images in QueueWrite.

Pexels is the current Contextual Images provider in QueueWrite. You use your own Pexels API credential. API availability, limits and account terms are governed by Pexels. QueueWrite does not resell Pexels access.

Key and usage are separate

Saving a Pexels API key and enabling Contextual Images are separate actions. Turning Contextual Images off does not delete the saved key. Contextual Images remain optional and off by default.

    Obtain a Pexels API key

    Sign in at Pexels and create an API key from their API onboarding or developer area. Follow Pexels’ current instructions — dashboard labels can change. Copy the key when it is shown.

    Open QueueWrite Settings

    Open Settings and go to the Providers section.

    Find Contextual images

    Open the Contextual images group. Confirm Image provider is set to Pexels.

    Manage the API connection

    If a connection is already saved, choose Manage under API connection. If you have not connected Pexels yet, the API key field is available in this section.

    Enter, Test & Save the key

    Paste the Pexels API key into API key, then use Test & Save. In the Direct Mac app, the key is stored in macOS Keychain.

    Enable Contextual images when desired

    Turn the Contextual images usage toggle on for new generations. Saving a key alone does not enable images.

    Choose the maximum images per article

    Set Images per article to 1, 2 or 3. This is a maximum QueueWrite may use when suitable photographs exist — not a count it will force. See Using Contextual Images for how selection works.

Credentials stay on your Mac

In the Direct macOS app, provider credentials are stored in macOS Keychain and used by QueueWrite to talk to the provider you selected. Never email or message your API keys to QueueWrite support.

Never share API keys

Do not include Pexels keys in screenshots or support messages. Revoke and replace a key in your Pexels account if it is exposed.

Troubleshooting

  • If Test & Save fails, check that the key is complete, has not been revoked, and that the Mac can reach Pexels.
  • If no images are returned, confirm Contextual Images is enabled and remember that QueueWrite skips weak matches rather than adding irrelevant photographs.
  • If publishing fails, check the WordPress Application Password and Media Library permissions separately from the Pexels connection.
