Connect Consensus (academic research)
Set up Consensus for optional academic evidence during research.

Consensus is QueueWrite’s academic research provider. It is optional and conceptually separate from web research providers such as Tavily. Consensus helps find scholarly evidence; it does not replace your writing API.
QueueWrite uses the writing, research, and optional image accounts you choose. You create an API key with the provider, enter it in QueueWrite, and that provider bills usage on their own pricing. A consumer subscription such as ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro does not necessarily include API usage or API credit. QueueWrite does not resell provider access.
- 1Create a Consensus API key
Sign in to your Consensus account and create an API key from their developer or account settings. Provider dashboards change over time — follow Consensus’s current instructions for creating a key.
- 2Connect in QueueWrite
Open Settings → Providers. In the academic research section, enter your Consensus API key, then Test & Save.
- 3Enable academic research when you need it
Turn academic research on for work that benefits from scholarly sources. You can use it alongside web research, or on its own, depending on the article.
If Consensus relocates their API key controls, use their current account documentation. QueueWrite only needs a valid API key pasted into Settings.
In the Direct macOS app, provider credentials are stored in macOS Keychain and used by QueueWrite to talk to the provider you selected. Never email or message your API keys to QueueWrite support.
